Attic insulation, air sealing, crawl spaces and walls for homes in Moncks Corner — starting with a free assessment that measures the R-value you actually have. The typical home here dates to the late-2000s, and 3% of its 5,482 homes went up before 1940.

Moncks Corner runs to about 12 square miles and roughly 15,485 people. It sits about 29 miles north of downtown Charleston. That is roughly 5,482 housing units. The community dates back to 1885. We cover ZIP codes 29461 and 29430.
Our job history shows nothing in Moncks Corner so far. Plenty of sites will show you a number here anyway.
The typical home in Moncks Corner dates to around the late-2000s. Houses this new were built to an energy code, so the attic usually started at something close to the required depth. What goes wrong here is settlement, gaps at the eaves, and a ceiling plane nobody ever sealed.
That includes Foxbank Plantation and Perry Hill. Housing age and construction shift across Moncks Corner, sometimes by decades within a few streets, which is why we look in the attic before quoting rather than after.
The Berkeley County seat, just south of Lake Moultrie, with town limits that reach east to the West Branch of the Cooper River. The town grew around an 1856 railroad depot, is home to Santee Cooper's headquarters, and includes the planned community of Foxbank Plantation.
The Census Bureau estimates 5,482 homes in Moncks Corner. 172 of them (3%) went up before 1940 — 13th of 28 places on this site for pre-1940 housing. The 2010s were the busiest decade, adding 1,694 of today's homes (31%); 22% predate 1980 and 59% were built in 2000 or later. For Berkeley County as a whole the pre-1940 share is 1%, so Moncks Corner sits above it.
Of 5,194 occupied homes, 22% heat with utility gas and 75% with electricity; another 2% burn propane or other tank gas. Electric heat here is less common than across the county (77%), and ranks 21st of 28 on this site. Which utility program can contribute depends on the heating fuel and on who sends the bill, so that is the first thing an assessment pins down.
74% of occupied homes are owner-occupied and 77% of all homes are single-family detached houses, with 353 mobile homes in the count. On a housing mix like this, the likely starting points are air sealing on newer houses that already have depth and an energy assessment before deciding what to fix first.

3,255 of Moncks Corner's 5,482 homes (59%) were built in 2000 or later. Depth is rarely what is missing in houses this new; air paths are: attached garages, bonus rooms over them, the chase around a high-efficiency flue, and the thin edge where blown fiber meets the wall plate. They usually earn their money back on sealing rather than on more fiber.

Moncks Corner enforces the South Carolina Energy Standard (the 2009 IECC), by state law. Moncks Corner lists the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code among the codes it enforces, with the 2021 residential and existing-building codes.
Under that edition the required attic value for new work here is R-30, and walls R-13. For comparison, the Department of Energy recommends R49 for an uninsulated attic in climate zone 3A, where Moncks Corner sits, and R38 where there are already a few inches up there.

There is no published answer for Moncks Corner. Neither the permit-required list nor the exemption list mentions insulation or air sealing at all. The town's permits page does not say whether adding insulation needs a permit, and the only exempt work it describes is small portable above-ground pools. Its building permit application lists 'Renovation' and 'Repairs' as permit types and asks for the contract cost, so ask the permit technician at 843-719-7914 before starting. That silence is not permission and it is not a prohibition. We settle it with a phone call before the crew is scheduled.

Permitting is on us, not on you.
Berkeley Electric Cooperative's own territory map shows its service reaching into Moncks Corner, and Dominion Energy South Carolina, Santee Cooper and Edisto Electric Cooperative also serve Berkeley County, so the name on the electric bill decides which program applies. For Dominion Energy South Carolina customers with electric heat, Home Energy Check-up Plus covers 90% of the cost of attic insulation, air sealing and duct sealing, with a ceiling of $2,880, on jobs completed by March 31, 2027 after the free Home Energy Check-up; the program's own contractor does that work, not us.
Berkeley Electric lends rather than rebates: its HomeAdvantage program lends up to $20,000 at 5%, with an energy audit first and the payments added to the electric bill. Santee Cooper's 2026 program pays $500 toward replacing most of a home's ductwork, but nothing toward insulation. Income-qualified households can apply to Palmetto Community Action Partnership (843-720-5336) for free weatherization instead. The full program rules are in the rebate guide.
